What Happened To Reagan's 11th Amendment
Ronald Reagan famously espoused the 11th commandment,
"Thou shalt not speak ill of another Republican"
It's not that both Brian Dahle and Kevin Kiley have not been a bit guilty of misleading information on campaign postcards (read Postcards Commentary).
However, when the most recent past Chairman of the California Republican Party, Jim Brulte sends out a personal letter to registered Republicans using "his power and/or the perceived status of his position" with the same misleading information it is beyond disgusting. See Mr. Brulte's letter below.
Prior to being elected to the State Assembly, Kevin Kiley was a Deputy Attorney General for the State of California so he did more or less work under Kamala Harris who was California Attorney General at the time. So what - who cares? Since that time he certainly does't seem to have any problem calling her out.

Brulte's letter says, "Kiley praised liberal Democrat Senator Jean Shaheen as a "visionary leader" even though she opposed the border wall and supports amnesty for illegal immigrants." - I have searched the internet for information on this and can find nothing - perhaps Mr. Brulte can cite his source.
He goes on to say Kiley voted to: "Waste tax dollars telling illegal immigrant students how to get financial aid." This is a TOTAL misrepresentation of the bill. (See postcard Commentary)
Brulte says Kiley, "Helped illegal immigrants convicted of crimes stay in our country when President Trump is trying to remove them."
One has to assume here that Brulte is referring to AB 291 -Prohibits Landlords from Disclosing Immigration Status of Tenants. It is true that Kiley did not vote on this bill. However, from where I sit, that is not quite the same as "Helped illegal immigrants convicted of crimes stay in our country." (read the bill here) Brulte and Dahle have both been disingenuous and delibertly misleading.
Brulte further says: "Kiley can't run on a record like that so he is dishonestly smearing Brain Dahle." The first postcard campaign mailer I received was from the Dahle campaign, so maybe "what's good for the goose is good for the gander?
When you read these types of letters and/or postcard mailers, please do your own research. Campaigns - especially ones from the establishment types - are often just misleading enough that it is easy to make the wrong choice. Now I am not letting Kiley totally off the hook here as all candidates have a responsibilty to the voters to TELL THE TRUTH! But ultimately it is our responsibility to choose our leadership so we must be informed voters.
Truly, my research indicates that both of these men are conservatives. Their voting records are pretty solid - not quite in the Travis Allen camp though Kiley is probably closer. They both have done a good job for us so far. The choice is up to each of us. For myself, that will be Kiley.
I would also like to remind you that the man that wrote this letter is also the man who wants to change the Republican platform to something more Democrat-Lite. Brulte calls it "Reframing the Message" and if you are a conservative, believe in the Constitution, limited government and a Christian you will not like the message Mr. Brulte and the establishment Republicans are going to be peddling.
